The Winds of Freedom Foundation website is for the campaign to showcase the work of its founder, Alex Ayzin. Following his escape from the Soviet Union in 1979, with his whole family and a then a young naval officer, he continued his maritime education in New York and, while working as an engineer at Con Edison and in response to two major tragedies in 1986, Alex Ayzin conceived of and helped create two full-length symphonies, Concerto to Astronauts and Winds of Freedom, with classically trained Russian composer Emilian Sichkin.

The first was in response to the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster and the second to the Chernobyl nuclear plant meltdown, in his homeland of Ukraine, and the dramatic years leading to the collapse of the Soviet. Winds of Freedom is a now multimedia presentation and, with the foundation, Ayzin wants to use them to inspire millions to get involved in peace movements around the world.
